    Default Sewing feet storage?

Last night while sewing and changing feet a gazillion times, and digging through the little box on the front of my machine I decided I need to come up with a better system for storing my various feet. I normally just lay the ones I need on the table beside me and they will eventually get knocked off. And to find what I need in that silly little free arm box is URGGGG! Pardon my complaining, what I really want to know is if any of you have come up with a better system for storing your feet? I thought about a small plastic container with slots that you can adjust but then I'd have to find a place for that. My sewing table drawer is only 4 inches wide! I thought about getting a piece of thick foam board and sticking them toe up in the foam and velcroing to the wall. Okay I was desparate and it was late so my mind wasn't coming up with anything good. Any suggestions or pictures? I know one of you have come up with something wonderful thats gonna make me kick myself and say why didn't I think of that! Thanks in advance!

I use one of the small plastic see through craft storage boxes with dividers. I use a marker to label the type of foot per compartment.

I use a box with little compartments in it that was originally intended for beading! I actually bought it at the dollar store...I need to get another one too. the only feet that don't fit in the small compartments are my darning foot and my walking foot, but there are long compartments at the top (for needles probably?) that I keep those in. It's SUPER handy - especially for retreats or classes, I just bring the little box and don't have to pack any feet or tools.

I like the foam idea. Maybe using a small box that is used to store fishing lures. Write the foot name or number on the front to make it easier to just grab the one you need. Velcro that to the wall or the side of your sewing table.
Good luck, sounds like a woman with a mission!

My Berina came with a box that all my feet are in and I just keep it on top of my sewing table.

So did mine; but I have so many feet that I bought an additional one and also added extra hangers so I could store additional feet. Large feet such as my walking foot and BSR are stored in boxes on the shelf under my machine.

I like the velcro/foam board idea. I keep mine in the "Bernina" red box on a shelf in my sewing table. If I know I'm going to be switching between two feet often during a sewing session (try to plan not to) I put them in the bowl next to my pins and pinmoors so at least I'm not chasing them around on the floor.

    Cheers, K

I keep my walking foot and BSR in their original boxes for protection, but all the other feet hang from slots in the accessory case that came with the Bernina. The case sits upright on a table beside my machine (along with a gajillion other sewing-related things, including oil, seam rippers, scissors, etc.) I haven't seen any cabinets like this (with slots for hanging the feet) for sale, and it does take up room on the table, which you say you don't have. Is it possible you could use floor space under or beside the machine for a little cabinet to hold supplies?

I don't have that many feet to need extra storage. But, my husband is a fisherman and from this I know that you can boxes in almost any size with movable dividers.
