Try looking behind the sofa. That seems to be a favorite hiding place at my house.

hubby did this also, the day he lost them he had driven home from out of state, so we know they were here. looked everywhere at quite a costly sum he had a nother set made. some weeks later, found the original ones in am empty grocery bag, where we store all of them. Neither one of us had been to the grocery store the day he lost them.

Look beneath, behind, and to the sides of the light. See if it could have fallen on the floor or become trapped on it's way to the floor. If you have a cat, maybe the cat saw it as a toy and batted it around?

I blame my parents when I loose something. I say please may I have it back. Both my parents have been dead for over 6 years but it works. Although yesterday I was going to a quilting class and while washing dishes said aloud , must put a cardigan on incase it is cold. Ten minutes later the dog turned up with a cardigan in her mouth. No slobber no marks. Must train her to put the washing in the washing machine.
