I have been trying to make a lap quilt for a friend who has a mass in her abdomen near her liver and pancreas. It is being biopsed and she has been in the hospital 1 week. Well I want to do this in a timely fashion and decided to use some of my stash as well. I cut large 12.5 blocks of an inspirational piece of fabric I had. I was able to make 9 squares. Then I was planning to trim each block with a 3 inch squares making 4 per side plus a corner piece but I erred and made 2.5 in blocks so I had to cut enough for 6 per side. I finished cutting and was ready to sew, but first I had some tension issues to resolve on my machine. Now it doesn't work at all. My DH dragged out my old Kenmore (I am recovering from some surgery so I could not lift it up) and I started sewing the blocks. Three done--6 to go. I get so frustrated when I have an idea ready to go and mechanics slows me down! Here's the first 3 blocks...

it is going to be lovely when you finish it- and yes---mechanical issues can certainly be a (downer) usually happen when we really want something to get done- just like the computer that freezes up when you really just want to post a picture...
price we have to pay for (technological advances :) )

sorry this was posted 2 times. I can't even get the needle up and down right now. I had oiled etc and decided to put in a new bobbin case b/c I have had to replace it before. Well either it was not in tight enough or something but it is all jammed. Shop Hop begins today so I will bring it in to the repair center and also check out their offerings for the CT shop hop!! LOL

It will be beautiful, you are so kind to do that for A friend. Just take deep breath, set and have cup of favorit drink and start again and it will all go ok.When we are not feeling the best and in hurry things sometimes just does not work like we want. Good luck and prayers for your firend and your recovery.

I hate it when one of my machines gets sick. Good thing you have a backup. It's going to be a great quilt.
