actually if you chose you could probably take him to court and win. You called to say you were coming in to pick up your machine. believe it or not the courts often cater to the little man over a shop owner. Most people just don't go that far. It is to bad you did not take the first machine to another shop same day to give proof of a no cleaning from 1st shop. I hope it all works out OK for you in the end. (((hugs)))

Wow, I dont know what to say....I think I would ask the police to go with me when you get the other machine, so you have a witness. I hopeyou get it back soon!

I personally would also contact the local news station and see if they can do a bit on it. That will really give them the best negative word of mouth - and of course take them to small claims court. That is ridiculous. Sadly, a lawyer will cost more than the bill I'm sure but that is just ridiculous.

Do you have a local TV network with a consumer advocate? Our local networks have them and they will help people with problems like this for no cost. They usually get good results because they publish the stories.

I hope you get this resolved quickly.
I agree with this. I think the TV station would be more effective than a lawyer. I live outside Phila. and they do that all the time. Lots of exposure for little cost to you. We have a local vac & sew (supposedly) place where I went to get vacuum cleaner parts one time. The woman who I assume was either the owner or the wife of the owner was very rude to think I was going to repair the vacuum myself and not bring it in. She said, " don't expect me to fix it after you break it." Obviously I never went back there and never will.

Take them to small claims court. No excuse for this kind of business practice. My guess is you will prevail especially if you can have a reputable dealer testify that the machine you got back was NOT cleaned and serviced. Go for it. And yup, after your 70 you stand up for lots of things you would not have done when you were 50--grin. Go 70+'ers!!

I am so sorry to hear of this horrible experience. I would do what Oatw13 suggested. Call local TV. You would be surprised how much they can do. Pursue it don't just walk away. He does not deserve to get the last word. Good luck.

I would find another repair man to verify that your machine was not cleaned so you have back up! Then go to small claims court. I think there are unscrupulous people that see an elderly person and think they must be senile and can get away with anything. DON'T LET THEM!!
