A thick piece of felt also works. Something I did for my sewing table that was flexing as my machine was sewing was to make a "fifth" leg out of about 4" PVC pipe. I cut it to the height if the underside of my table, put a scrap of batting between the table and the pipe and no more vibration.

I use the rubbery mats that go under placemats. they are oval & just the right size. or you can cut up an old yoga mat. it's the rubber that quiets the noise. (I know it's not rubber, but can't think of a better
word right now)
