I have a simple Singer thats only a few years old. I clean it often.....but it has really slowed down and I have read that there are some washers on the shaft that can be removed to speed it back up but I'll be danged if I can find them! Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I too have a singer. I removed the bottom panel under the needle area this week and it was full of lint. Now it runs great. I had always cleaned around and under the bobbin, but this is the first time I had removed the bottom. There was only one screw and so it was easy to do. Don't know if yours is like this or not.

Yes I always clean under the bottom too, thanks....but there is a washer on the motor shaft that can be removed. Just wondering if anyone has done this with their machine?

Maybe you could look for a repair manual online that shows that washer's placement??
