I would say ask her to help you on a project and let her work on it and then after she got to work on it for a little bit I tell her, by the way that is for you....

I had better read all the posts, I like this idea too!!!!

I would show her and say look at my new machine. Have her sew a little something and then tell her. How do you like it? Well it's yours.. Have fun.

This is my favorite idea. I think she might be overwhelmed with the gift at first and feel the need to reciprocate such a generous gift, but she probably won't be bringing anything like that for you and she might feel uncomfortable about it if you give it to her at first.

I really like this idea. For sure she's going to like sewing on a nice new machine and if you give a her a project to sew on it first (maybe have the same project for you to do in a different color), this wonderful gift will be better received.

I can't suggest anything that hasn't already been covered. I am anxious to see how it goes. Please let us know. I will be watching with baited breath. You're a great friend and I'm sure she will love it one way or the other. I'd be careful letting her sew on it first and expect her to gush over how it works. What if she doesn't like it and says so before you have a chance to gift it to her. Just me being cautious. I'm sure she's going to love it one way or the other.
