I agree w/everyone's ideas. I would love more outlets in my sewing loft. I have 2 and they are both on the same wall. Since it is in a loft I don't have room for a design wall and the lighting isn't good. I enjoyed seeing everyone's must haves, since I'll be re-doing my sewing loft in a month or so. I loved Gann of 6's room. Make sure you post photos in the fall after you finish.

In 1997 we added a garage/shop/and studio above the shop to our house. Each of these spaces is 26x26'. In 1997, I wasn't quilting but I did lot's of other crafty things. Until last November, the floor was still the plywood subfloor and I worked off folding tables. In Nov. we hired a cabinet maker to make the cabinets and we finished the floor in linolium that looks like hardwood. There's a space that's about 12' wide and 5 1/2' deep where we have metal shelving units on rollers. There's 4 - 4' shelves and 2 - 3' shelves. A 4', 3', and 4' on the 12' wall and then a 4', 3', and 4', right in front of them. Like I said they are all on rollers so they can be moved to access the ones in the back. All of my fabric is stored in plastic boxes from Walmart. The shelves are moveble to accomodate the size of the boxes. And, I can see what's inside. I also like to do memory albums, so one whole shelving unit houses all of the things for that craft. I always thought I wanted that space to be an inclosed closet, but now I like it the way it is and can get to anything I want without digging for it. We purchased the metal shelves from Costco.

I love the daylight bulbs in my overhead lighting. Also, a pegboard that holds ALL my rulers, in plain sight- no having to paw through them all to find the one I need and perhaps won't be able to find.

I have downsized to a 32' fifth wheel (temporarily I hope). Really difficult to get too enthused but I manage now and then. Amazing how much you can get along without!

I have a 9ft by 9ft table in the center of my basement room, with electrical outlets on each side. The table is work height and I also have a stool(with a back). Have flourescent lights. There is lots of stoage under the table. It is my dream space.

A TALL cutting table....I'm 5'8" and needed a cutting height of 35". My back thanked me and my DH when we finally came up with a solution.
My DH built one that came 2" below my elbow and it's just perfect for this old, broken back.
