Tell me about the topper on the chest. Looks so user friendly. Iron on it, cut on it, helps with height? I think I need something like that on an old buffett I'm thinking about using in my sewing space.
    Thanks, and love your space!

Absolutely not! Fabric is in the guest room which is the only room where cats are not allowed. It's kind of a mess with too many WIPs. I sew in the dining room which is the only room with a table.

This is great! I love hearing about (but especially seeing) other people's sewing spaces

I'll have to take pictures and post tomorrow (better by daylight!)

    Please keep 'em coming...

Funny you should mention this today as only yesterday I was down at our LQS for our monthly charity sewing bee and one of the ladies mentioned that her sewing area was so messy that she just couldn't bare to go in there and sew these days.

We suggested one or two of us go and help her "de-clutter" and clean it up so her creativity returns

I sew in the corner of a half built house myself and don't have much area for messing up overly. So looking forward to getting into my own sewing room eventually

Not necessarily, I personally hate being surrounded by mess/clutter so like my friend would not feel much like going into a messy room to sew anything. May often become a little messy while sewing a project though once done I have to clean it up and make room for the new one.

My husband cut me a piece of plywood that is as wide as my cutting mat and about `1-2 feet longer (to fit the space i have). I put that on top of a Goodwill metal desk with no storage drawers, just a pull out keyboard (i keep my templates and rulers there), I bought plastic bed rises and put them under the legs of the desk, put storage rollarounds from walmart underneath, and maximized my small sewing nook for cutting, ironing, and sewing. I iron on it too using a padded quilter's square up by June Taylor. Works for me. Lots of creative storage ideas in all the pictures.

Just Fabric-NO, the pattern cabinets are filled with fabric, the patterns are out in the 18 wheeler container. The totes in the store room are all filled with scraps. There's 7 pattern cabinets, 6 of the shorter ones, which 3 back to back and the 2 piece counter top, makes my cutting table.
