I did this just yesterday. I was trying to get a piece ready to sandwich and was almost finished when I realized that only half the piece was sewing. I think I get to involved in what I am doing and forget to check my bobbin.

I had done that in the past. But, my current machine won't allow it. It will give me a warning and will stop sewing until I give it more bobbin thread.

I'm guilty, too. What drives me crazy is I'm quilting on my DSM and will be going great guns, get to the end and find out I ran out of bobbin almost at the beginning. That's a Grrrrr moment.

I hear ya! I wish I had a bell that went off when my bobbin runs out.

I've run out of bobbin thread so much that now I "feel" the stitches every so often. I do a lot of chain sewing also....

The other day I ran out of bobbin thread sewing patches on my DGD's Girl Scout vest. Some of the patches are iron on, but I set them with the iron and then sew them. Was merrily on my way when the non iron patches were not staying. (Took me a bit to realize it!) It's frustrating!!

I can tell when the bobbin is empty on my machine because the feel of the fabric running through is different. I notice it almost instantly when it is empty anymore.

For one thing not just the feel of the fabric but the puffiness stays up when the bobbin is empty another way I can tell but I can tell mostly by the feel of the fabric when it happens.

I also keep a case full of wound bobbins so I can change without having to sit there in fill one up.
