    It's not just for starch. I have a teflon shoe that fits over my iron but it is shaped to fit the old style iron, not the new shapes most are now.

    The Teflon does fit the Reliable. I'd rather use the shoe for anything messy than spend time cleaning the iron.

    An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

    If you want sticky and messy - the spray on stablizers for heirloom sewing were very sticky. They were great, though as you could now use all your decorative stitches without resorting to adding machine tape.

    I purchased a cheap one, but threw it away. I'd like to see the instructions also.
