maybe I'm way off base, but I don't think the replacement blades are that expensive -- compared to frustration at dull blades. I get them with coupon at Jo-ann's 40 or 50 % off coupons come with flyers, and that's what I use. :D

What a great idea - it never occured to me that rotary blades could be sharpened. Not that I haven't wished it so! I think I'll recruit DH into the sharpening, though, and save my teeth.
I once thought I was no good at cutting, then changed my rotary blade and Whee! my cutting immediately improved. Sharp blades are important :D :D

It sounds like fingernails down a chalkboard to me...
But I can see that it 'might' work... hmmmm... maybe DH will have to try it for me....
I stock up on blades when they're on sale, or use my coupons. Sharp blades are one of the MOST important things in accurate cutting.

Well, I would give it a try if I was just going to throw the blade out anyway, but I would think you would need to cut at an angle. I have heard that you can sharpen hole punchers by punching holes in sandpaper.

I do it all the time. Just take several layers of folded foil and run the cutter through them back and forth. It really saves money and extends the life of the blade. It won't work forever, but sure helps.
