Sheets as fabric?

With cloth so expensive one can usually pick up some sheets at the thrift stores for a good price. They are soft and feel so good..
Thanks for the information.

Now I am confused. I would think the higher the thread count, the better the material. But you say NO HIGHER than 250 thread count? Can you give me an idea what the average GOOD cotton quilting material thread count is then?

If you're planing to hand sew/quilt they are more difficult but are doable.
Quilters used to use flour and feed sacks in quilts so why not a sheet? If you want to use it go for it!

I use them all the time but most of mine are from sheets that were used on beds and washed countless times. I use them not only the backs but also as the batting. You would be surprised at how much warmth a couple of sheets and a quilt top have. I cut the elastic off of the fitted sheets and use those too.
