    Default Shop Hops

I am curious as to how many people participate in shop hops and do you make the blocks? I have heard many people say they go for the fun and never do the blocks. Well I did the Western Washington 2012 Shop Hop and decided to try to make at least a wall hanging. LOL Shop hop is in June and I am having to hustle to do something with the blocks I have made.

I like visiting all the shops in the area and meeting the people. My sister and I make a holiday of it.

A friend and I just participated in our area shop hop. It was so much fun. We spend 3 days - we went to nice places for lunch, bought a lot of fabric and visited a lot. I'm keeping the patterns I picked up - they are in a patriotic theme this year. It will be a while before I make it only because I have so many projects already started.

There's a shop hop here every year. The last time I went was 2007 though. Since then they haven't had a fabric collection for the blocks that I liked at all. This year I like the fabrics for the blocks so I'm going to go with a friend next weekend. We have to go to two shops on Friday and then we'll go to the rest of the shops on Saturday.

I have not done one in a couple of years due to the price of gas if you try to get to all the shops around the area. Some of my favorite shops are not participating anymore too. I don't do the blocks anymore since they raised the price so much for them. I realize it takes them time and material but it was not worth it for me for the blocks they had.

Similar here...this year each shop had its own free design to give shop hoppers. Never have had the hoppers buy a pattern to be in the shop hop.

We don't get just a pattern. I can't imagine a bunch of shops giving away that much fabric. We buy a block kit. Then you pick a finishing kit from one of the stores or come up with your own design for finishing.

Well, I could see them giving away the fabrics if they weren't going to be giving away a thousand dollar sewing machine.
