Saw these on Craig's List - they are metal - Approx 6' X 3' X
18" deep - they are from a hospital - have not seen them. Was told they weigh approx 200 lbs - the man wants $50 each - the cubbies are approx 6" wide
Do you time these would work?
Decided to ask you what you thought before I showed them to DH - who at the moment is playing golf.

I agree with most of the comments here - they are really heavy and not too sure how the long-term effects of metal would have on your fabric. I just organized my new quilt studio and got the IKEA Expedit bookcase and LOOOVE it. Below is a picture of theirs, and one of mine with my fabric in it.

I would think that 6" cubby hole across would be too small for fabrics unless you put them on a board device of some sort so they would stand upright. Plus the humidity factor in Florida might or might not be a problem for you depending on how you keep the heating/cooling system in your home.
As for the weight I am not sure as the pressboard sometimes weighs as much if not more than metal or wood. I could be wrong but as I don't have any pressboard I don't know for sure but have friends that have them and they are a bugger to move also. Many of the ladies here have them and absolutely love them.
