I have only used high loft batting in tied quilts. I have found that high loft makes small quilts less "drapey" so they don't wrap around little ones so well. Hope you find a method that works for you.![Smile](https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png)

I gave up on high loft batting. Couldn't hand quilt it, and it wasn't any easier to machine quilt it. I've really grown fond of thinner, cotton batting. I usually use Warm and Natural nowdays. I like it so much better.

I use high loft batting on most of my quilts and hand quilt most of them. Never had any particular problems with the quilting. I like the extra puffiness and warmth of the high loft. I do notice a big difference in the ease of quilting on the tighter woven material.
