    Default Silhouette by Cari Nichols

A walking buddy just called to ask for help with a quilt she has just started. Purchased the fabrics and made her first cuts.... She says the pattern is from McCall's quilting March/April 2012 and it said to cut the pieces at 7 7/8" BUT she made them at 6 7/8".... unfortunately I don't have the pattern and will go on Wednesday to try to help her. (she has the pattern) BUT in the meantime has anyone ever made this pattern so that I can see ahead of time what it looks like? I've tried searching but I must not be using the right words as nothing is coming up. She says it's for a confident beginner and now she's discouraged...... I really hope I can help her figure out what to do to adjust things because she has just the amount of fabric required.... Thanks for any help in steering me in the right direction!

edited to say I found a link to the magazine it was in...but not much further ahead http://www.mccallsquilting.com/mccal...les/Silhouette

I don't have the magazine but if you have EQ, you could easily resize the quilt.

You are spelling her name wrong. It's Kari with a "K"
If you google Kari Nichols Silhouette quilt, and look at images, there are several of quilts laid out flat.

This is the proper link to my post on making the Silhouette quilt. Note that I modified the design to make my triangles from one piece rather than two.

P.S. It should be easy to resize the quilt for slightly smaller triangles.

Thanks ladies, went yesterday to help her and she was happy. She has some lovely black and white fabrics for this project....some really cute black and white teensy scottie dogs, etc. This was the first time I had been into her sewing studio, wow.... she is super organized. I have a small room so couldn't do this, but she had a hand rail attached to her wall beside her sewing machine desk so that she can lay the different sections of the quilt over it as she goes, instead of just stacking them up in a pile.

So nice of you to help her out, Thimblebug! Was it a matter of resizing the quilt to match the smaller triangles?

No...we were lucky... she had a very generous sales person doing her cutting and we were able to eke out the right size pieces... it's amazing... when I shop, the sales person maybe gives me a thread or two more.... she got lucky! And also wasn't charged for 2 FQs..... which she didn't complain about.....
