I've been trying for a while to get hold of a Singer 201 to use for free motion quilting. No joy yet, but I've been offered a 99K. How does this compare to the 201? eg do the feeddogs drop, what's the harp size? Any comments or innformation would be welcome.

i have a 99K- no the feed dogs do not drop. and i believe the harp size is 5"---just my guess i've never measured it- i use it for piecing- straight line sewing because it has such a great even straight stitch.

I have a wonderful Featherweight for piecing, so the 99K definitely isn't what I need - I'll carry on waiting for a 201!

I have 201 and 99k. The 99 looks like a smaller 201 . It is so cute but not much throat space.
