Welcome to the board. You might want to post this under the "For Vintage & Antique Machine Enthusiasts" because that is where the people who know about featherweights hang out.

be sure to wind your own bobbins! The ones that came with my machine (my friend tried to get me to use the thread on them-don't do it!) had multiple colors of thread on one bobbin!~ That much thread is cheap...pull it off and rewind with your thread.

There is a little notch that the bobbin must sit into. I also advise to check out Vintage and Antique machines on this website.

FW have special size bobbins. No other type will work. Some will fit but not sew at all.

I finally found out that the Featherweight and the Singer 301 have the same bobbins. I have both those machines and didn't know that the bobbins are interchangeable until about a month ago.
