Starting tomorrow (Sept 2) Hancock Fabrics is selling the Quartet for $699.99. Comes with an extension table and lots of extras. Regular price is $899.99.
I hope to be there right when the store opens so I can get one at that price. It's less than what I paid for my stand alone embroidery machine. One of the attractions of this machine is the larger hoop size. The machine I have now has a maximum field of 5" x 7", although I did get a repositional hoop for it.

I bought a new Quartet yesterday! Have stitched out two designs and found that if I use the mesh spool cover, it prevents the thread from coming unwound too quickly, which causes loops to form in the thread.
The machine does have a sensor and will give a false error if that happens.
I also don't use the spool cap when embroidering. It's not really necessary unless you just want to make sure the spool doesn't come off the spindle!
Make sure you use a lighter weight thread in your bobbin than you do for embroidery. Coats & Clark sells bobbin thread, which is about a #60 I think, although you could go as light as a #90. Standard embroidery thread is size 40.

I also ordered the Singer Futura Quartet 4-in1 from HSN. I have never had an embroidery machine but always wanted one. So far I have only sewn with it. I am gathering up embroidery thread, fabric, etc to begin my embroidery venture. Any information about what I need to use this machine will be helpful. Thank you.
