The new Singers are being made with metal parts again. Thank goodness. I had given up on Singer many years ago but may rethink if I need a new one. I am thrilled with my Janome

I just bought a Singer Confidence Quilter a couple of months ago an I love it. Has the bells and whistles that I did not have on my other machines. Just got done piecing a queen size quilt and had no problems. Also was a great price. Had reservations as I had read some negative things, but one lady here on the post said that she had one and had no problems. I am glad that I got this machine.

I have a quantum xl6000 embroidery machine and I love it.It also sews like a dream.It has a lot of stitches that I use for quilting.

In my 'opinion' Singer made fantastic sewing machines until they started making the Touch and Sew Machines. I had a little green machine they made in the early-sixties that was fantastic. Then got a Touch and Sew and it sure was not as good as that little green machine. Since then I have had Vikings. My first Viking was fantastic (a Viking 1) Six months ago I bought a Viking Sapphire 875 for quilting...and it is not near as good as my first Viking. I also now have 2 Singer Featherweights that I love and wonderful Singer 301 that will outwork any machine I think. It is really a workhorse. So, I agree, somewhere in the70's the Singers changed...in my opinion. But they were awesome in the 30's 40's and 50's and 60's. I also have a Baby Lock Ellure Plus now that I love!

I love all of my Singer sewing machines. I think I have three or four Singer sewing machines, and two more treadle sewing machines.
I love all of my Bernina sewing machines.
I love my 2 Kenmore machines -- one is a serger.
Someday I hope to love a Gammill -- not tomorrow, but someday.

I am looking for info on treadles. Isn't there a place on here with info? I can't seem to find it. I want one so bad but not sure what to look for. If there is no belt do you just "roll" the wheel to see if it works????
There is one on Craigs list for $75.00 but the cabinet is water damaged.

I have several vintage Singers plus a 6215 which has been through 3 moves with the Army movers and survived them all. It works wonderfully and was a present from DH almost 23 years ago. The older machines are great and love their harp size. WIll have to wait til carpal tunnel release surgery site heals before doing much sewing-wise. The only other machine I'd like to have is either a FW or a 301. DH has agreed that I may have one more for the collection and then I'm done.
