I got some last spring from Target that were wild colors. I am using them to make pillowcase dresses. The last ones I got at Walmart I forgot to look at the thread count. They were very thin and when I washed them they pilled so I ended up using them for lining purses.

You can still find singles, but have to look a bit. Kohl's, Penney's, maybe Sears, sometimes the discount stores like TJ Maxx or Marshall's. I share your frustration with this issue.

Went to Target today...yes, they are selling single sheets, flat or fitted. Didn't really have the colors I wanted, but I ended up getting fleece throw blankets...king size, $21.00. I am now able to do what I had planned.

I also looked at the king sheet set, the fitted was 90 x 80 I think and the flat was 108 x 108 I think. So to me the king set priced at $20.00, I think, would have been a waste, because I would have only been able to use the flat sheet, not the fitted because it would have been to small for what i needed.

We used to have a Springmaid at the outlet mall....not any more....

    Thanks to all for responding....

I've used single sheets for quilt backing a lot. Had no trouble either quilting by machine or hand.
