I would probably add a border to make it a bit bigger.

I think that size is great. The larger size is hard for one person to fold alone.

I made a 68x70 for a friend and she laid it on top of her king size bed and it fit fine across the top. She put a sold bedspread under it and loves it!!

Can you enlarge the pattern a bit?

I make snuggle quilts rather than bed quilts. A snuggle quilt will fit any decor where a bed quilt is decor specific. I'm making one right now that is 72x72 and it is plenty big enough for two people but not unimaginable for one.

The pattern you're considing that is 74 x 74 does it include a border? If not you can always add a border to add some size to it. I tend to add a row of what they call "film strip" to either the sides or top/bottom to add size, plus it makes use of my scraps too.

I believe it will work fine for a snuggle quilt on the couch.

Yes, I think the size will be perfect. Can you share the name of your pattern choice? I am in the same boat trying to find a pattern for a wedding quilt and have changed my mind a dozen times as well. Thank you!

The pattern is Glimmer by Jaybird, but I've changed my mind again and am now cutting for the pattern Ballerina by Jaybird.....
