Are they registered anywhere? If they are you could see what size sheets they need and make the quilt to fit their bed.
I am also making a wedding shower quilt for a shower to be held April 23. My problem is what color their bedroom is going to be. They are not decorating their bedroom for a long time, so I am going scrappy with various blues and green. I am drawn to a log cabin quilt and have a lot of fabrics in my collection (I prefer that description to Stash). The contrasting color will be cream and white batiks. I will post a picture if I can figure it out, but right now the picture is only in my head.

Better to plan on something to use on the couch anyway... as I'm sure they have their bedroom decor picked out. In reality, two people don't usually end up snuggling under the same quilt at the same time. The husband is usually hot when the wife is cold!

Nice size for a snuggle quilt. People can always use a quilt for TV or movie watching but might not want what you might choose to make to dominate a room like a bed size quilt will do. Their decorating might be in a state of change. Smaller seems better.
