I'm chairman for our guild's planned retreat in April 2011. It will be 3 days of sewing, eating, and fun over a weekend at a local 4H Center here. We stay at accommodations there and usually have about 40 members sign up for it.

On Saturday night, we have a time of entertainment, so I'm looking for a skit that is quilting related to put on then. Does anyone know where I can find one? I've looked through Google and didn't have much success. Can anyone point me to one or give me ideas? Thanks!

    How about this:

    http://www.thesource4ym.com/skits/skit.asp?ID=91

It's about a "new and better machine" which we quilters are always looking for! It talks about throwing something small over a wall, and the "new and better machine" throws back an improved model! For instance, throw a couple of fat quarters and get a sewn quilt block. Then throw a quilt block and get a baby quilt. Do this a few times, then have someone new throw something new over and get no return. Repeat this wtih no return again. In disgust spit at the wall and the wall throws a bucket of water (substitute water-colored confetti) on the person. Messy but could be cute and relatively easy to pull off.

Sorry I can't help but I love to see what the board comes up with. Retreat sounds like fun.

Thanks for the ideas, y'all. My wife and I were talking earlier this evening and we had a thought -- maybe do a skit that's a takeoff on a movie and do it with a quilting theme. I was thinking of "The Wizard of Oz", except call it "The Wizard of Houston". :) Quilters on the yellow brick road to the Houston Quilt Festival. But instead of the scarecrow, tin man, and lion, Dorothy meets some rather odd substitutes. One would be Elvis (Yes, I have an Elvis costume). And instead of straw falling out of him, he would have polyester stuffing falling out. Oh, well, we'll see. Give me some more ideas if you have them.

This isn't a skit but have you heard of Quilt-O? It's like Bingo but with a quilt motif. Check it out. http://www.quilto.com/Quilto,_a_Quilters_version_of_Bingo%21/Quilto,_a_quilters_version_of_bingo%21%21.html

There's the one about the king looking for his most important papers (and it ends up being t.p.) Could be adapted to looking for the "best" fabric, and have it end up unbleached muslin.
