Your quilt looks awesome, so far! The only advice I can think of is to be sure to square up your sub-units before joining them. If you are finding you are coming out short after sewing, try sewing that scant 1/4" seam. Sometimes I even sew 1/8" if I need to.

You can also try using a smaller needle and 60 wt. thread like bottomline.

I had to learn to follow what is mentioned by myself--that is, I read this suggeston later. In the "Dear Jane" blocks that I have drafted and made, I changed from the 4-1/2 patterns to 6 in because I found the smaller ones entirely too small to handle. Kansas Trubles has many pieces, and you did it perfectly... I find that everysuch block needs a base, drawn out pattern to check every piece against while in construction. Also, consider whether paper piecing would be the better way to do a block instead of traditional piecing.

It looks pretty good to me. Small pieces are soooo hard to handle. I usually set my stitch length much shorter to get more stitches to the inch. The units, like the half square triangles, you can make larger first and then cut down to the size you need. That helps a lot.
