I had that problem too, but mine didn't smell musty, more like a chemical smell, I put it in a plastic tub with lid and sprinkled baking soda in between the layers of fabric, I had earlier tried to just put an open box of baking soda in a bag with the fabric, but that didn't work soooo....if this doesn't work I may wait till spring and set it outside, it's a shame because I really liked the fabric scraps that I ordered off of EBay

Ditto. I put the fabric in my washer with detergent, vinegar and baking soda. Let it sit for an hour or more. Then rinse, and wash regularly (with detergent). That does it for me!

Try good old vinegar in your rinse cycle. Works on smelly towels too!

I just went to this search because I bought a daybed and didn't realize it until I was driving it home that it has a doggy smell to it. I may have to replace with new mattreses. It's too bad because the bed and linens and mattresses are in almost new condition. I am washing the linens with detergent and baking soda and rinsing with vinegar. Next they will go out in the sun to dry. Hope this does the trick because I hate to get rid of such lovely bedding. If anyone came out with a winning idea, let me know. Thanks.
