Must make an amendment to the measurements I gave in my earlier post. I tested it out and found the second round of triangles were too small - so if anyone wishes to try here are the altered sizes, in blue.
A - create a 4 patch with two 2" squares of light & dark fabrics. Trim if necessary to 3 1/2"
B - cut one 3" sq both fabrics once on diagonal. Sew to the 4patch . " " 4 3/4
C - cut one 4" sq " " once " . Sew to B block " " 6 1/2"
D - Cut one 5" sq " " " . Sew to C block " " 8 1/2"
After adjusting the measurements, I hardly had to trim anything, except a smidgen at the end.

There is a 12" free pattern available here. I think it must be the size of the triangles on the MSQC one that makes it look a little choppy (looks okay if you squint)
