I also work with dogs and I had a woman follow me into Petsmart one day all the way from across the parking lot to tell me that I was training my puppy to heel all wrong. I needed to put a halti on him and they work great, etc, blah, blah, blah. That is fine if you have a pet dog but I am training obedience and seeing as they don't allow those in the ring I don't use them as I feel they are a crutch. My method works, it just takes awhile. And again just like your quilt police people are extremely rude any more and seem to think they need to mind everybody's business but their own.

I wasn't very nice too her...NONE of her business. I shut down my rescue just for that reason. People seem to think they have the right to express their unasked for opinions about quilts, dogs, cars, or whatever and they are totally rude too boot. Sad....

Why is it that people have no manners or respect for others anymore. Are they not being taught? I would never talk to a stranger that way. Of course, I was taught better. Good for you. She needed a telling off. Dottie

Your response was great! I don't believe I would have been able to think that quickly. I like what you said ... ALL of it!

For Heaven Sake! The sheer audacity of some folks! Sure sounds like you handled the situation with great finese. I'm afraid I might be more like "cjomomma" on page 1 of this thread - real police called in. You see, I'm a correctional officer at a men's state prison and when an inmate tries me with a slick mouth and/or rude remark, the first thing I do is tell him to turn around and cuff up. In your situation I would not have did cuffs, so I would probably have grabbed her arm, like she had mine, only I'd spin her into a locked-arm escort position and walk her butt to the nearest security officer and tell officer about her physical and verbal asault on me! Of course, I might find in necessary to crank down on her wrist for compliance to go where I leed! LOLOLOL! You did the right thing, however, and I'm so glad to know you stood up the the QP!

Great response - good for you. I wouldn't have thought of a comeback that quick. Later, would be ROFLing. Just today I was thinking of all the beautiful quilts I see here, and thought mine are so worn out. My MIL made us one every year, so now I wish I had saved at least one of them. My DD has a Dresdan Plate that is literally falling to pieces. Soooo, I guess I will have to get busy!

I haven't read all ten pages but this thought occurred to me -- if she's a quilter herself maybe she's a member of this board. If so, and if she's reading all these responses, maybe in the future she'll remember this lesson we all learned in childhood -- mind your own business!

I once took a class from a woman who told of stealing back the table runner she had given to someone because they used it on a table on the patio. I mentioned to her that I was a weaver and I wove handtowels and dishtowels as gifts and my feelings would be hurt if someone didn't use them. She was appalled.
