I dislike posting pictures as mine as so big, but here is the quilt. The back
The front.I forgot I had to add onto the back to fit the front - another design element.

I have lots of large yardage, so I just use some for the backs. I am making donation quilts for kids in foster care. I been using scraps.

I think it’s a great idea, especially if both flimsies are scrappy. Otherwise, I am picky about things matching and since I never do two quilts nearly alike, I would have a hard time finding a cohesive partner to use as a back for any of my quilt tops. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

that's all I have done for the same reasons. You can see them in my photo album
https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...bums19345.html

sandwiching them is a bit tricky but I go slowly, centering the 3 layers and than, slowly going from there.
the first 2, I handquilted them and for the rest, I quilted them on my non fancy mechanical sewing machine ajusting the quilting pattern as I went when there were seams that met and if it was too bulky. but that did not happen that often.

You can do it!

I never thought of doing that, thank you for asking the question, and it looks like it is definitely "a go for it".

I did the backing on this Blue Ridge Beauty quilt to use up some of the fabrics from the front. The borders on the back were not the same size once I trimmed it, but it didn't matter because it was just a utility quilt... didn't send this to Houston to be judged.

Funny you should ask. I had grand plans to do that, and took the "backing" quilt to retreat this past weekend to finish it. All done - but then I looked at the front (which had been in the UFO closet for years), and discovered I was completely wrong about the size of it. So now I have 2 quilts (91x106" and 95x95") that don't go together - I just created another UFO. SO, my advice is MEASURE before you commit

The back of my quilts do not necessarily go with the front. Therefore, when I get tired of looking at one side I turn it over for a whole new decor loll

Sounds like a great idea but I don't think I could get everything even. I do piece my backing fabric with any large pieces of fabric I have. Just at a quilt show and I saw a quilt that was the same pattern on front and back but different colors. Very interesting.
