I don't use two tops, but I almost always piece my backs. Maybe as simple as using a few extra front blocks scattered, using all the leftovers (especially if they aren't 'my kind of fabric'), or grabbing a bunch of odd bits of fabrics in complimentary colors to front. I just think it adds an element of surprise. Even an offset strip of piano pieces adds interest.

I've one on my bed right now. The thing the long armer told me though was to go with an overall meandering design, because if you try to follow "lines" it's bound to come out wrong on the other side.

I piece my backs from my stash. I feel like it is a shame to buy backing when my stash is out of control. I have been using up my stash this way. Some of my backs are practically a quilt by the time I am finished. I usually make some kind of design. I have a bunch of modern quilts pinned that I use for inspiration.

I don't do this because I LA my quilts and find it's too big of hassle to try lining it up, etc. I mostly use wideback(besides I rarely have time to piece so don't have many spare quilts needing quilting!)

Am I the only one who cringes at the word "Flimsy"? I know it means a quilt top, but to me it has a negative connotation - you wouldn't want to buy flimsy fabric.

I love the idea but have never tried it. I store all mine on a spare bedroom bed flat. The only problem is when I have guests but that is very seldom.
