...I told her I really enjoyed the pieceing but not so much the quilting, and she said that most of the members don't quilt, they just piece and send it out to be quilted! I find that so funny. She said there are two who own longarms and another makes quilted vests and things, so I shouldn't worry too much about it.

I guess I'll go check it out. If anything it will get me out of the house for a few hours a week.

edit: oh yeah, she happens to live around the corner from me. Funny how things happen, huh?

Definitely check it out! I joined the guild about three years ago and have not regretted it. I was a wannabe quilter back then but now I would consider myself at least an intermediate when it comes to piecing. I have yet to do the actual quilting on any of my quilts either. We have several long arm quilters in the group who do beautiful work so I let them do their thing while I do mine - piecing!

We have had some awesome guest speakers at the meetings and they usually hold a workshop on the day after where they teach a technique. I have learned a lot from them and from other members of the guild. I think you'll enjoy it.

    Welcome to the 'dark side'!!!

Yes, there are lots of people who are just into making the tops. And there are people like me who quilt the tops for them.

Some people can't physically handle quilting a quilt in their home machine, some just don't like it (that was me!), and some just really, really want to make tops! They're into the patterns and the colors.

Whatever you end up doing, have fun!

Hey which guild is it? I'm from the same area and maybe I could join with you :) :) I haven't joined because most of the ones I saw around here meet during the day, which I can't do, but I think I saw one recently that meets at night ....

In my area...the guild is made up of elderly women who are not friendly at all. Even knowing that I quilt, they still are not friendly. They look at people who quilt as competition. :(
