I took it off, and tried to cut along the "lines" of the fabric so that it "looked" straight. But once cut, the fabric wasn't straight at all. Think I will put it on as is.

It's VERY pretty which is why I've been hesitant to cut it down. But I ripped the seams and took it off and took a small piece of it and tried to straighten it along the pattern but it really didn't look straight at all when I laid it out against the the lattice. So I'm going to leave it. I'd rather have it a bit wonky..then to cut it down only to find it won't work, and then I'm out of this gorgeous piece of fabric.

It is a "busy" print and really doesn't look that bad to me. I think you are the only one who will notice it. My vote is for leaving it as is and just consider it a lesson learned for your next quilt.
Second choice: Ask the one you are sewing for their opinion.

Leave it. She is so young that the quilt will probably get alot of use and she won't care one bit that it's off. You are very kind to be making it and shouldn't have to be stressed over that border. We quilters notice and stress over these things. Other people won't especially a 9 yr old.
