My favorite is Quilt Sampler magazine . It only comes out every so many months and at this point, I don't think you can subscribe to it. I really enjoy reading about the quilt shops and their special patterns. I live close to two of the shops that have recently been shown as the special quilting shops presented; it is neat to actually "have been there and know the owners." Usually there are links to the web sites, and I just keep adding more links to places I have to visit online.

If you had of asked this question a month ago I would have said "Love of Quilting" with Fons and Porter. But a while back I went through 10 years of saved quilting magazines: Love of Quilting, Quiltmaker, American Patchwork and Quilting, McCall's, Quilter's Newsletter (seems there was another that I can't remember) and set aside the magazines that had projects that I wanted to make. The "winning" magazine (the one I had marked the most projects in) was .......American Patchwork and Quilting. So I guess that is my favorite!

My favorites used to Quiltmaker, Quilter's World and Quilt. Unfortunately, the last issue of Quiltmaker was a real disappointment to me. It only had three bed sized quilt patterns in it and the rest were table runners, wall hangings, and totes/purses. I stopped buying Quilter's Newsletter about two years ago. I just didn't find anything of interest. I stopped getting Quilter's Home as well. I miss Mark Lipinski's humor and the new mag is just not the same. My favorite quilt magazine for the past five years though is Australian Quilting and Patchwork. I like the combination of piecing and applique projects. I also like that the magazine has bed sized projects not just little wall hangings or quilted purses.

I've found that a good place to get quilting magazines, if you're not wedded to the idea of having the latest edition, is various thrift shops. I found a bin of magazines for 10 cents each. They were mostly one to two years old, but still full of ideas. This would give you an idea of what the magazines are like without spending much.
