I just realized that I can add to my comment by saying I belong to a quilt group, gone on several retreats and shop hops. Having said that why do I or we still feel the need to think about whether we are a quilter. why are we so quite when we say with a whisper, Yes , I am a quilter"! I guess I need to take ownership of that! guess I have learned something new and will proudly say outoud " yes I Am a quilter"! good to hear from others on this!

Addiction and fabric in every place you find a tiny place to stash it. Fabric and thread and notions you couldn't use in 100 years. Machines-way to many. That is a quilter. When you go to your sewing room and just daydream and pet fabric. That is a quilter. Helpful, generous and kind-just like the beautiful people on this board.

WOW!! You are definitely a "quilter", You have been bitten. LOL Anyone who hears the fabric calling and the want coming, I consider it a quilter. Three tops is not to be sneezed at you know. Enjoy your newest passion, or as the others say, addicted.

    Intriguing question! Makes one ponder.

If I have enough fabric and thread and notions to last the rest of my life (and probably my daughter's, too), is that a quilter?
    Nope, that’s a fabric & tool collector.
Well actually, that could be a hoarder, since I don’t actually use the stuff that often.

I really only like collecting the fabric & tools. I like the cutting out, and the beginning piecing.
I really don’t like the sandwiching/basting/quilting process very much.

I love cutting the fabric into strips, but not shapes like circles or funky rectangles. I love looking at the piles of fabric cut into identical rectangles or squares. Hex's are good too. I LOVE hex's, especially I Spy hex's.

Making the squares or hex's is fun but I don’t like putting them together into rows.

I don’t like sandwiching, or quilting. Binding I kind of like doing.

    Am I a quilter? I guess not. I guess I'm just a collector/piecer.

    I think I should just get a job at a fabric store…

I'd get to pet the fabric, I'd get to cut it into segments, and I'd NEVER have to sew it into anything!
