IMO, Kona's quality is very good. But I don't think Kona is exactly the right fabric to go with batiks. The type of fabric is altogether different. No doubt someone else will have a good idea as to what would be best to use.

    :?
I agree, you need something with a finer weave. I have found some white on whites that would go well. Just need to refind them. Let me look.

Another idea, not the best but would look Ok, is a poly cotton.
They have a tighter weave, just depends on your preference. Many here would not use that option probably.

Here is a link for many white on whites:http://www.ericas.com/fabric/whitesonwhites.htm

Also many muslins are tighter woven than others. Those you would have to see in person with a sample of your other fabric in hand. Good luck and others may have other options.

The Hoffman 1895 batiks are almost plain and can be used in place of solids. They look awesome with other batiks!
