I think it looks great as is! I love the snail's trail for this theme! If anything (not that it needs anything), what about an applique of something from the movie or of Halloween? The moon with Jack in it would be great! Or a ghost or a cat, whatever?

Just an FYI:
This is the Monkey Wrench/Churn Dash block:

What you made up in EQ is a Snail's Trail block:

I love Snail Trails quilts. One of these days I'm going to make the Shakepeare in the Park quilt by Judy Martin.
One of these days.

Oooh! A while ago I saw a YouTube video of someone using thread that changed color under a black light. That would be sweet! ...and it'd keep with the NBC theme as Oogie's lair was lit under black lights during his musical number.

I think I'd add a narrow stop border...possibly a third (darker) shade of orange...in between the center pattern and the brick border. The two patterns as you have them don't mesh together evenly and a narrow band would make it less confusing.

(on the inner borders) To quote Jack, "Of course! That's what I'm missing!"
I added an inner border and changed the sequencing of the colors on the brick border (so the two bricks in the corners will be opposite from the block its touching).
