Love him. Doesn't his mum know learning to sew will serve him better than football in the journey of life.

Well, my son knows how to sew, uses the machine and repair jeans and tears in his garments. Too much time watching mom at the sewing machine? Perhaps, but he knows more than his wife about cooking, cleaning and caring for clothing as well as sewing. She is a grand gal but her skills lay in the the professional world.

I did not know who Ricky Tims was but I did a quick "Google" search and goodness! Hee-Haw a creative fabric artist who is not afraid to speak his mind and show his work to the world. Missgigglewings, be proud of your young grandson and let him know that we are all proud of him too.

Both of my sons cook, clean, iron, and can wash their own clothes. My youngest son bought a sewing machine to hem his jeans and do any minor repairs as my DIL has difficulty sewing on a button. Makes a mother proud.

I had 4 boys, they learned to cook, sew, clean, do laundry, etc. I told them that I might not be around to do it for them. Or they might get a wife that didn't know how. They all got wives that don't know how, but because they do, they all
have been married 25 years or more. The girls all say they are keepers.

(What is it with football? Don't get me started....) If we raise our kids well, we teach them how to survive on their own. They can cook, clean sew, do laundry change a tire, maybe the oil(or at least know to check it and what service their vehicle needs)do some simple repairs around the house. These are not gender specific. Our daughter is an excellent cook, can sew enough to mend, has replaced toilets in their house, laid tile on the floor. Sons know how to cook, mend the seat of their pants, do their laundry and clean as well as simple household repairs. Perfect? Far from it but they can survive if they need to.

Great comeback, I have a son who makes quilts and sews better than I do. He does beautiful work. He is a truck driver, so what. I think everyone should be able to do what they enjoy.

Ask your daughter to watch the PBS Frontline show on the NFL and brain trauma. She won't want her son to play football. Those hard hits cause unseen injuries for all brains and the damage is cumulative.

And yes, guys need to learn to sew, cook, iron, clean. What's good for the goose is good for the gander!

I can change the oil in my car! I took a basic car repair class and did a brake job, changed spark plugs, the battery, and learned to jump start my car. I've changed more than one flat tire. These are not my first choice activities, however, and fortunately, I have a great mechanic.

I am a lot older than my nephew. I was looking after the shop and getting the nephews up to go to church. One said he wanted a button on a shirt . Sorry too busy in shop. Later I wanted help with my electricity. Sorry too busy but mend the fuse.
In our family we were all taught to do everything. I have more power tools than some men I can do joinery, mend cars and fix electricity. Not very good at plastering yet. Why not. I live on my own and need to do all these jobs.
