When the fabric has more than one color, which color stack do you use? When two colors are equal?

Thanks so much for the great information you guys always add.

Well, this isn't scientific but I lay the fabric by the stacks and step across the room to see it from a distance. Then I make up my mind. For me, a little distance gives a better perspective.

I get "stuck" when a fabric can go nicely into more than one category -

    Examples:

Black and white cat print - does it go with the cat fabrics? does it go with the black and whites?

Large multi-colored floral on black background -

Small/tiny florals - by color or style?

The colors that are sort of "in-between" - The bluish green that isn't quite aqua or teal - the blue that is sort of purplish, but not quite purple

Actually, I do have "sort of a system"

Some are sorted by color - blues, greens, reds, browns/yellows/oranges, tans and creams

Some are sorted by type - cats, butterflies, I Spy, black and white

Some are by size - over five yards, little scraps
