Specialty rulers...yes...I buy them if I plan on using them for more than one project and if they make the job easier.

MacyBaby--thanks for posting all those pictures of your rulers! makes me feel down right thrifty! I have all your basic ones, plus TriRecs, 60 degree triangle, a long 10degree wedge; Marti Michelle's that you use for stars in borders, the rulers for the Gravity quilt (superhex?) and I have a ton of rulers for my long arm too--why not have tools that make it easier to create? I've slowed down on my rulers for rotary cutting cause I bought the GoBig! and lots of dies.

I don’t have many specialty rulers for cutting just a Dresden, tri-recs, Kimberly Einmoe’s flying geese/HST combo ruler (very easy to use for strips) and a strip tube ruler. Oh, and a True Cut 16” square that is great for squaring up and it sharpens you rotary blade while you’re cutting your fabric- I use this one a lot. I use go dies in my Big Shot Pro die cutter for things that I need a lot of.

What I do have a lot of is specialty rulers/templates for use when quilting with a ruler foot. Snowflakes, Curley Q’s, Circles, curves in different sizes and steepnesses, clam shells in various sizes, several straight or straight/combo rulers, Westalee Spineffex, etc. Guess you can tell my true love is the FMQ part of quilt making LOL!

Oops, yes! I "misspoke" - it cuts in 2-1/2" increments, not 2". So it's great for making your own "jelly roll" strips, or charm squares, or layer cake squares.

I just used mine last night to cut several yards of white fabric into 10" squares. It really goes so fast, especially if you do several layers at once. And they come out perfect.

I love my two creative grids rulers and I love my June Taylor with the 1/2 inch cuts, can’t cut without that, will be checking to see if I can get another soon, I’ve worn one out already.

I have the Tri-Recs ruler and I'm using it to make Xmas tree blocks. The ones I use often: Quilt In A Day Flying Geese Rulers, Fons and Porter Triangle Trimmers and Marti Michel Dresden Plate Rulers. I have two Creative Grids that I haven't used yet - one is a house block the other is an unusual triangle?

I knew there was something that stopped me from getting the larger ruler from JT, it only cuts 2.5 whereas her old one cuts in 1/2 in. increments, giving you more choices of cuts.

Oh, I forgot to add the Mari Michelle Log Cabin ruler- has been a big help to me in keeping things from going crooked.

And also- the big Westalee marking ruler that is a large square with slots to fit a marking tool- it allows you to quickly mark lines at various angles around a square which is very handy for lining up your rulers when ruler quilting— I use it for any design that requires rotating a template
