Spicy Spiral pattern question
Does any know if or how the spicy spiral table runner can
be elongated?
My brother has requested me to make one for him to give
his wife for her birthday in June. Only he wants it to be closer
to the length of their table which is about 94-98 inches.
I have looked and studied this pattern until I am cross-eyed
and haven't figured out how to make it longer. Of course it
doesn't help that I have never made this table runner before.

Not sure if it helps - but if you use a larger wedge than the one called for, it ends up bigger overall. Not sure how much extra fabric it would take. I made mine using a 10 degree ruler (vs the 9 degree) and it ended up about 48 inches long (I think).

I've made several and even taught others to make them. The wedges are cut so that they differ in length by .75 inches. . Maybe if they only differed by .25 inches or .33 inches (or even .5 in) it would become longer, but I don't think it would be anywhere near 95 inches long. Also, it would be very difficult to eyeball the different lengths, thus causing confusion (at least for me). Good luck with it.

My SIL has a very long dining room table. I made three or these and she placed them horizontal on the table. Looks great. She always puts tablerunners crosswise on it. This way she can use three different ones and doesn't have to choose just one for the holidays.

I had to Google the design, so obviously I have never made one, but would probably be stubborn enough to try it. Those who have done it.......................could you just reverse your pattern in the middle of the "hill" and continue a wave until it is almost the length needed, then add the swirl? It looks to me like the wedge is reversed to return out of the "valley" and climb the "hill". If you continued to make hills and valleys in a wave, would that work? Inquisitive minds want to know!
