Spoiled quilter.
My friends say I am a spoiled quilter. When I see a pattern, fabric, ruler, gadget, tool, or even machine I want to try I buy it. I want it now. LOL I rarely buy new clothes, shoes, and never buy jewelry and only the basic make up. Those items do not interest me. I have been with them shopping and they will drop a hundred dollars on a purse and not blink. I buy a quilt kit for a hundred and they say I'm spoiled. Who else here admits to being a spoiled quilter?

I am. When I want something I buy it.
But like you, a lot of that other stuff doesn't interest me. I do love jewelry though, but I have all I want. My granddaughter is going to be like Liz Taylor someday haha. Unless her sibling is a girl then they can split the haul
Quilting is my joy and that's where my money goes. I don't care what anyone says! As long as I have the money it's nobody's business! I would never go into debt though. That's just not me.
PS One thing bugs me though. I seem to have an aversion to specialty rulers. I don't know why? I know you love them. I have some but my frugal side comes out I guess haha

I hate debt and DH loathes paying interest and will go without before paying it. Everything we buy is paid off in 30 days. Our first house took 10 years to pay off and DH was beside himself to get it paid for. Debt is the big four letter word in our house. LOL

We do not have a large budget, but my husband wishes to spoil me and does to the extent he is able and he always encourages me with my quilting. I am joyful for my friends that have bigger budgets and bigger houses than mine, and they get to fill them with whatever it is they love. I have my "if I win the lottery dreams" and if that happens I will have a wonderful studio.
Today I'm going to the local sew expo, with all the repairs going on I let him know I expected to spend some money today to make sure I didn't have to watch every penny. He even went out to get me cash, I told him most vendors had the card scanners now but he wanted to make sure I had some on hand. One of the repairs is my car has been in the shop for almost two weeks now, had two difficult to reach sensors (read expensive labor) to replace, but my Tuesday group hostess will be driving another lady and I to the event. I'm hoping car will be done today or tomorrow, and then on Tuesday we get the hot water replaced -- which is going to cost about the same as the last really good deal on a long arm I saw, but we don't have room for a long arm anyway. Well, if we completely give up on the idea of a living room we could and the hubby would say go for it.
So... maybe a pair of Kai Scissors? I need some good scissors... Or I've given up looking for my 2.5" long ruler, time for a replacement. Maybe some thread? I really do have enough fabric but there might be something I don't have yet that I can't live without

I am just like you Onebyone. I don't wear makeup and never shop for clothes (in fact-I hate shopping for anything but fabric). I never wear jewelry except wedding and mother's ring. When I go to a quilt shop I just feel this over whelming good feeling and could stay there for hours. My husband always says "what do you need more fabric for-you have so much now". Husbands just don't understand!

My sister has a friend who has maxxed out every credit card she gets (and she keeps getting new ones) cashed in her savings to pay off debt. But she hasn't changed a bit. I wouldn't sleep at night if I lived that way.

I am the same way as far as paying interest on our credit card bill. I pay it off every month and feel so thankful that I am blessed with a nice warm home and am able to pay bills in full and still enjoy sewing every day.

Me! I will take a ruler over clothes any day! A couple yards of fabric in my favorite colors excites the heck out of me. A new pattern with everything I need blows me out of the world!! Not many I know share this excitement other than my quilt guild friends. My dream is to someday have a real long arm just for me! That would be heaven on earth. Right now I would be happy and spoiled with a thread clipper. Many would think that I was spoiled with that. Who on earth would think that this would be a most treasured holiday gift.
