Spray starch substitute and re-inventing the wheel
#31
It was called Argo Starch. They still make it. My mother made it in two strengths. One for dresses & shirts and one undiluted for Daddy's collars & cuffs. I have some now but you can buy Sta-Flo starch by the quart for very little and that's what I use. It can be used full strength or diluted. I never starch my material until I'm putting it in a quilt top and then it's washed out.

Since Vodka is distilled, I would suspect it wouldn't attract bugs. Here in Pennsylvania, I would never use the cornstarch mixture. We have too many bugs, and I have seen them in some of my older fabric. I pay the extra money and buy the Best Press. But I may have to try the Vodka solution.
