    I square up the block as I go. Squaring up each pieced section before it is added to the block. With the log cabin it should be squared up after each round of logs.

    I used this method when I was teaching 6 new quilters to make blocks for a charity raffle quilt-worked great and the quilt looked great. All but one of the group continued to quilt.

    I square up when all of the blocks are done. Usually, I test the first block.
