St. Michael patriotic quilt
Greetings to all. I need your help. My niece is married to an Irish Catholic policeman who is also an Air Force veteran. I want to make a patriotic quilt for him that incorporates his devotion to country and the citizens he protects. I envision using the fabrics in the photo with darker blender. My challenge is I want to put a St. Michael medallion in the center. St. Michael is the patron saint of policemen. I've looked a little online, mostly Googling "images of St. Michael, but haven't found anything that I think will translate to fabric. Most are detailed and intricate. If any one has an idea as to how I can go about depicting St. Michael without really getting into detail I would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks to you all for helping me think about this.

If you go to catholicfaithstore.com they have many metals that have a more general depiction. Also, one has this policeman's prayer on it if you can do embroidery, might be an option.

Check out Spoonflower. I took all our son's army medals and some of his patches and created a layout that I uploaded to Spoonflower and they printed the fabric form me. Here is a photo of the fabric they did for me.

Looks like some great ideas you got. My son is a policeman and this is a great idea for a medal on the quilt. I pray every night for his safety and his uncle is a catholic priest so I have him saying a little prayer for him too. Please share with us your project as you progress.

I have a family member in police work. The other night at Quilt Guild a lady, who works in a LQS (her husband is a retired police officer) mentioned that their is a line of quilting fabric coming out called something like A Thin Blue Line or Blue line. I asked her to let me know when it comes into the store. If she does I will post it here on the board.
