    Default A Stable Iron?

When I use an iron, I like to sit it up on its heel because I work close to the pointed end of the board. I have a Rowenta Pro Master (now there's an authoritative name!) that has a flexible, but stiff, vinyl extension where the cord comes out of the iron, so when I rest the iron , I have to drag this cord-keeper across the board to sit it up. In this position, the iron is unstable. I haven't had an accident yet, but several close calls where I've had to catch the iron by its cord in order to prevent a spill. You'd think the designer of the iron would consider those who don't rest the iron horizontally. Is there a good iron out there that is stable in the upright position?

    get a cordless iron.
i have not had a single accident since i got mine a few years ago.

you will easily find one on amazon the costs nicely compared to rowenta.
i think there's even one model that is pointed at both ends.

if you otherwise like your iron, you can get an iron resting pad similar to this one http://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Burn-.../dp/B002YHW5QO

This may be what you need: https://www.anniescatalog.com/detail.html?prod_id=92541

The iron cage holder doesn't come with it. It used to be sold separately but isn't sold anymore.

You can get both of these at Walmart if you have one nearby.

I set my iron in a brownie pan. It doesn't squish the cord that way and it won't
    fall either. Cheap fix.

I tried this tip before. Didn't work at all. The iron kept tipping over when I stood it in the pan because of the cord.

You must have type/size iron than mine. My iron sits at angle on the brownie pan.
    No tipping at all.

Edit: This was my reply to Onebyone
