    Ok-

Christmas is right around the corner and I've been thinking all summer about getting a machine and I think I want one. I would like a stand alone machine..I really don't want to spend more than $800ish on one. Having USB capabilities would be great too. Thoughts on a machine? I have a bunch of different local dealers where I live. Thanks!

Well, I have a Janome 300E, they dont make these anymore, but you can get the next one up, the 350E that has USB capability. IT also comes with 2 sized hoops, and you can buy other hoops that fit it for extra. I love my machine, has not missed a beat. Have a look at the Janome website, as Im not sure what they cost in the US.

Yes, would agree about the Janome 350E - check ebay out as some are usually available there.

I just got my Christmas present early and it was a Janome 350E and I love it! It's a great stand alone machine and I have had so much fun playing with it. I've made several gifts. You won't regret getting one.

I just wouldn't really go for a stand alone EMB Machine...IMHO!
I have two machines and they are both able to do emb as well as sew.
I use one for emb while I piece or sew on the other but if I wanna get some gifts done or what not then they both run Emb...
Just my 2 cents...and I also think of resale...

love my Janome 350E just wish it had a bigger hoop than 5x7!! keep hoping they will upgrade this machine with a bigger hoop, then I will trade her in and get the new model. Until then she does a great job and so easy to use!! Very user friendly!!

I have the Janome 300E. You can still find dealers that have this model for around $899 new.

I absolutely love this machine. It has embroidered everything I have thrown at it without a hitch. I did have to take it in for a problem (after giving it a strong workout for 3 years). It had blown a fuse on a circuit board. Cost $10 to replace the part and $69 to give it a good servicing.

Good luck and I hope Santa Claus is good to you!
