I'm working on Carol Doak's 50 Paper Pieced Stars book. There are stars for all 50 states. Are the blocks supposed to be matching (coordinating fabrics)? I would never be able to use the same fabric though. Do I need to?

I don't see why you couldn't make each state as individual as they are in real life - hey remember we threw the quilt police out

No you don't have to at all. You may want to choose one or two fabrics, using one/some of them in each block to have some continuity (like in the back ground), or go completely scrappy with them. It is your quilt, your choice :D:D:D
