Do you starch your fabric before you cut it when making your borders ? How about the backing for your quilt?

I do. The more starch the better in my opinion. Especially for backings. I would starch it into cardstock if I could!

I've gotten so that I now Best Press fabric before cutting. I like the way the fabric handles this way.

I never used to starch anything, but am doing so more and more all the time. Depends on the fabric of course. I find that some needs lots of starch (I'm not sure I'd starch it as hard as cardstock -- that was funny), but if the fabric is flimsy at all, I now starch it. I like the results I get with a bit of starch.

Personal preference is the key. Try it one way, try it another way, and pick what you like best.

Absolutely starch BEFORE cutting. I once starched after cutting and the fabric shrunk so much I couldn't use it. I had to re-cut a whole new border.

I always starch. I find it helps with cutting so much, especially since I have rotator cuff problems and not a lot of strength in my hands. It really helps with that.
