    Yes... fat usually will be more servicable if you are using blocks or larger templates. The 9" width can be a little short so I too prefer 1/2 yards at least. I'm learning to buy a little "extra" though rather than not have enough for a project. Alot of online sales of fabric require minimum of a yard and that's not a bad thing either! If you have something specific in mind for the fabric, then go with whatever gives you the best cuts in your design.

    both...I like the strips x w.o.f. and I like the fats for appliques, etc. :)

    FATS... but I too prefer 1/2 yard minimums. If I have the money and it is really something I like, a yard minimum. I do prefer yards and yards, miles and miles better though.

    I like the fat quarters more for scrappy but like to buy 1/2 yard mostly.
